Christmas celebrations at Clarks Shiraz starts with cake mixing ceremony

Christmas is no fun without the traditional Christmas cake. And making it is no quick and easy task — preparations begin months in advance for that. To mark the birth of Jesus Christ, Hotel Clarks Shiraz here organise cake-mixing ceremonies to spread the warmth of the festive season.

People from different walks of life come together for such ceremonies. Wouldn’t it be fun to mix lots of colourful cherries, dates, plums and dry fruits together with your favourite drink, on a lush green lawn overlooking the sea? However, the treat is not to savour immediately but to keep ready for the festive season.

With less than a months left for Christmas and New Year, the Agra city began its celebrations with the cake mixing ceremony. A lot of in-house foreigners, guests and invitees, enthusiastic children and the staff of Hotel Clarks Shiraz geared up with aprons, caps and gloves took part in the fun-filled ceremony. Close to 250 kilos of assorted dry fruits were mixed with cinnamons, nutmeg and generous amounts of liquor and stored in a container until the festive season. This marinated assortment of dry fruits will be incorporated when baking plum cakes and puddings.

The longer the mix is kept for, the tastier will be the cake, said one of the chefs of the hotel. “It is basically to bring in the festive mood and make merry. People who get these cakes are in for a pleasant surprise too,” said Group CMD.

WHAT IS THE ‘GOLDEN TRIANGLE’ – A Complete Guide by independent.co.uk

http://www.independent.co.uk/travel/asia/the-complete-guide-to-indias-golden-triangle-434773.html

Hotel Clarks Shiraz has been Featured in this Article from Independent for of the the best place to stay after Oberoi Amar Vilas ( Luxury )

India’s Golden Triangle comprises the three most visited cities in the country’s north-west – Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, which are all connected to each other by good road and rail links. On the map, these form a roughly equilateral triangle, some 200-250km along each side. This triangle has been dubbed “golden” for the extraordinary wealth of cultural and historical splendour on offer in each of the three cities.

Jaipur, capital of the largely desert state of Rajasthan, is home to some of Asia’s best bazaars. You could spend weeks in Delhi, the sprawling, fascinating Indian capital, and not see it all, while Agra, once the heart of the Moghul empire, boasts the unparalleled beauty of the Taj Mahal, which adorns the banks of the Yamuna river. The Golden Triangle is a classic introduction to India: if you’ve never been to the subcontinent before, start here. Which usually involves a flight into Delhi.

WHERE SHALL I SLEEP?

Undoubtedly the best placed and smartest hotel in Agra is the Oberoi Amarvilas at Taj East Gate Road (00 91 562 223 1515; www.oberoihotels.com). It is less than 500m from the Taj, and offers staggering views of the mausoleum from each of its 105 bedrooms. Doubles start at around Rs18,000 (£215).

Agra’s mid-range hotels lack character: as good a bet as any is the five-star Clarks Shiraz, 54 Taj Road (00 91 11 562 222 6129; www.hotelclarksshiraz.com), favoured by many tour companies: a deluxe double facing the Taj Mahal costs Rs6,500 (£74).

Special Hotel Rates for Indian Defence Officers – As featured in tripwiz

It was only from 2011 onwards that few hotel chains started offering concessions / discounted packages to the officers. This initiative was indeed appreciated by all officers. In the United States, almost all hotel chains and resorts offer discounted rates to serving and retired military personnel – yes even for the personnel other than officer rank.

In this post, view  listed hotels at different places in India that offer special hotel rates for Indian Defence Officers. Please note that I have included only 4 and 5-Star properties. If you are a defence officer and would like to add (or even delete) hotels, just fill in the comment form and I will keep updating the list. If you are a hotel representative and would like to add your property, you are welcome too!
